Junior Production Pals

Entering Grades 4–5 | Elementary School

Low-key. Creative. Just plain fun.

Junior Production Pals is a playful introduction to media creation designed especially for younger students. These classes focus on imagination, collaboration, and confidence. No experience required!

Students will:

  • Explore storytelling through games and improvisation
  • Act out silly scenes, create stories using props, and try simple performance exercises
  • Learn how teamwork and creativity come together in media
  • Get comfortable being on camera and expressing ideas

Classes are intentionally relaxed, “cute,” and pressure-free. They are perfect for kids who want to try something new.

Summer Sessions:

  • Produce mad-lib news and a puppet show!
    • Session Dates: June 22 – 25 or July 20 – 23
    • Time: 2 – 3:30 PM
    • Fee per Session: $180

Outcome:
Students build confidence, creativity, and early media awareness, setting the stage for future production skills.

Youth Media Program

Entering Grades 6–8 | Middle School

Hands-on media skills with room to experiment.

YMP introduces students to the fundamentals of modern media production while keeping things fun and exploratory. Students begin working behind the camera, learning how content is created from start to finish.

Students will learn:

  • Basic videography and camera operation
  • Introductory video editing
  • Audio basics, including podcasting and foley art
  • Collaboration and in-studio production

Summer Sessions:

  • Stop Motion Animation
    • Session Dates: July 6 – 9
    • Time: 2 – 4 PM

  • Phases of Production

Outcome:
Students gain foundational technical skills and creative confidence, often completing small projects they can share with family and friends.

T.E.A.M. Filmmaking

Entering Grades 9-12 | High School

Professional-style production. Real-world skills.

T.E.A.M. is an immersive media education program for teens ready to go deeper. Students learn the entire production process while working on longer-form projects over multiple weeks, mirroring real-world creative workflows.

Students will explore:

Pre-Production

  • Ideation and concept development
  • Pre-visualization and storyboarding
  • Scriptwriting
  • Location scouting and planning

Production

  • Video and audio recording
  • Lighting basics
  • On-camera and behind-the-scenes roles

Post-Production

  • Video editing
  • Graphic creation
  • Voice overs
  • Color correction and color grading

Distribution

  • Preparing content for platforms like YouTube and social media
  • Understanding audiences and publishing formats

Summer Sessions

  • Produce an entire narrative film in one week!
    • Session Dates: July 13 – 17 or August 3 – 7
    • Time: 1- 4 PM
    • Fee per Session: $450

Outcome:
Students develop advanced media skills, complete substantial projects, and begin building a portfolio suitable for college applications, internships, or personal channels.

FREE Saturday Classes

Each Saturday, Medfield TV teaches two offerings of the same class from 12 PM to 2 PM and again from 3 PM to 5 PM. Each month, a new class is offered, so there are up to 8 opportunities to get your learning in! Available for ages 16 and up, or 15 or younger with a parent. Stay tuned for new offerings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a member to take classes?

Yes, and membership is completely free! Just fill out the online form.

Are classes free?

Most basic-level classes are free. Advanced-level classes, Youth Media Program classes, and T.E.A.M. classes have a nominal fee.

Can I take classes on demand?

Yes. If you want to take a class, but you aren’t available during the scheduled time frame, you can request to take the class on a different day and time. Staff may invite other members to join this class.

How can I practice the skills I learn?

You can practice on your own time by borrowing equipment or booking editing time on one of our computers. You can also keep your skills sharp by volunteering on existing member-produced shows or working on your own media project.
